Western Countries can no longer ignore the Hezbollah
On the July 7-th in Lebanon the Parliament Election will take place. It is possible and expectable that after more than thirty years of home war and a conflict with Israel the election will completely change the Lebanon political scene and will have a massive impact on the Middle East.
It looks as if Hezbollah and their coalition parties will win this time. From 1997 Hezbollah, also known as The Gods Party, is recognize by the USA as a terrorist organization. Today (after the election in 2005) Hezbollah has got 14 seats from total 128 in Lebanon Parliament. With several other parties they hold 35 seats in Parliament, called Development and Resistant Bloc, what makes them the second political power in Lebanon. But this may soon change as during the last few years Hezbollah gained significance in and out of the country. This was possible thanks to: uncompromised position towards an Israeli aggressive politic, the success against Israel in 2006 where Lebanon army has defatted Israeli army (as the only Arabian army ever to defeat Israel) and also thanks to their support for Palestinians and their fight for own country.
On top of that Sunnis do not have someone with such a respected authority as Hezbollah’s spiritual leader, Hassan Nassralah. Last but not least Hezbollah has achieved a really strong position by wining one ministry in the government, on July 11 last year, what allows them to block the government decisions.
War between faith and no-faith.
During the last few weeks Hezbollah has improved their position in Middle East politic. The Leader of Hezbollah Political Council, Ibrahim al-Amina al-Sayyda, was present at the International Conference for Support of Palestine: 'Palestine: Manifestation of Resistance, Gaza: Victim of Crimes.' This took place 4-5 March 2009 in Tehran and he was one of 1300 delegates from 80 countries (Poland has had the representative as well but the names of any of the delegates has not been revealed). During the conference the speeches were made by: Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and President Mahmoud Ahmadinezad. The second one was talking not only about Palestine and Gaza but also about Lebanon, strongly emphasising the Arabic resistance movement (Intifada). Among speakers, next to the Leaders of Palestinian National Authority, Lebanon, Malaysia, Algeria, Syria and Sudan, representatives of Hamas and Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestina, were Ibrahim al-Amin. In his speech he said: “We are sure that Islamic nations will support Palestinian people”, “Palestine will be free and Zionism regime will be destroyed” and “The idea of resistance has won with the idea of occupation and crime. Our fight is a war between faith and no-faith”. He finished with thank you words for Iranian government for being on Palestinian side. As a reaction for these words the Iranian Parliament Leader (Majiles-s Shura-ye Eslami), Ali Larijani has said to al-Amin: “Brave Hezbollah’s resistance against the Lebanon’s enemy has forced them to leave the country [and] has humiliated the regime”.
Does the world unite with Hezbollah?
In the middle of April vice Secretary General of Hezbollah, sheik Naim Qassem, has said to AFP that the world has change their policy towards Hezbollah. He said that the leaders of Hezbollah have been given the promise form European countries and from International Monetary Fund that they will accept the election results, even if Hezbollah will win. What’s more the ambassador of one of the most important European countries (probably United Kingdom as only a month earlier London has said that they will restore the communication with political representative of Hezbollah) have informed about the change the USA government. If it turned out to be true and the new strategy towards Hezbollah would not be only the political game it could soon be clear that the main party’s enemy comes from Arabic surrounding. Prove? At the beginning of April the Egyptian security forces have arrested 25 people for terrorist action, saying that Hezbollah is to be blame for conspiracy against Egypt. Of course Quassem and Nasrallah have denied, admitting only that the arrested were indeed Hezbollah members but they were only preparing the gun running for Hamas. But the problem has occurred and … remained.
